DAVOS, SUI. — One among Kamloops’ hockey heroes will lead Canada’s entry within the 2025 Spengler Cup match in Davos, Switzerland.

Defenceman Joe Hicketts was named staff captain by Hockey Canada Thursday (Dec. 25).

Hicketts, 29, is beneath contract with the NHL’s Los Angeles Kings and is enjoying his third season for the Kings’ American Hockey League affiliate, the Ontario Reign.

The Spengler Cup is an invitational match held in Davos yearly. It was first held in 1923.
