Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger tapped a veteran securities fraud lawyer to lead his workplace’s probe of First Liberty Constructing & Mortgage, the politically related Newnan-based lender accused by federal regulators of working a $140 million Ponzi scheme.
The appointment of Jason Doss is the newest step by Raffensperger to aggressively escalate his workplace’s investigation of the corporate, which collapsed in June and has deep ties to GOP leaders.
