KARACHI: Famend Islamic scholar Mufti Taqi Usmani has declared buying items with cryptocurrency “impermissible”, citing analysis performed by specialists to date which discovered that cryptocurrency does not qualify as “wealth”, it emerged on Friday.
The fatwa was initially issued by Darul Ifta, Jamia Darul Uloom, Karachi, and dated 24 Zilhaj 1447 AH (June 10, 2026). Other than Mufti Usmani, a former decide of the Federal Shariat Courtroom, 5 different professionalminent students are its signatories.
Responding to a query about buying books with cryptocurrency, the fatwa stated: “It’s not permissible so that you can buy the books in query utilizing cryptocurrency.”
