Emperor Yang of Sui dominated China from 604-618 and through his tyrannical rule oversaw the completion of the 1,100 mile Grand Canal system. Firstly of his reigh, the emperor returned to his former publish of Jiangdu on a magnificent ship so splended that it served as a floating palace.
