Would-be travellers who checked the Toronto Pearson Airport X account earlier Friday have been probably perplexed by a slew of advertisements selling a cryptocurrency coin.
The advertisements briefly changed the same old updates on airport operations and flight statuses.
CityNews reached out to the Larger Toronto Airport Authority (GTAA) which acknowledged the difficulty, however mentioned it gave the impression to be remoted to the X account and didn’t influence airport operations or safety.
“Toronto Pearson has resolved a difficulty affecting our X account,” the GTAA wrote.
“The incident had no influence on airport operations, passenger providers, safety, or airport techniques.”
Whereas the airport’s tweets have been restored, the account’s characteristic picture remained clean hours later.
In the meantime, the GTAA says it’s “reviewing the circumstances surrounding the incident and haven’t any indication of any broader influence at the moment.”
