April 22 (UPI) — A billionaire backer of the Trump family’s World Liberty Monetary crypto business is suing the group alleging extortion.
Justin Sun is accusing the corporate of a scheme to take his WLFI tokens, that are the cryptocurrency the corporate issued, the BBC reported.
“Sadly, sure people on the World Liberty venture group have been working the venture in a way that goes towards President Trump’s values,” Sun posted on X. “They wrongfully froze all of my tokens, stripped me of my proper to vote on governance proposals and have threatened to completely destroy my tokens by ‘burning’ them — all with none correct justification. I don’t imagine President Trump would condone these actions if he knew about them.”
The agency was co-founded by President Donald Trump and his son Eric Trump in 2024, together with Steve Witkoff and his sons, Zach and Alex, and entrepreneurs Chase Herro and Zak Folkman.
World Liberty denies wrongdoing, the BBC reported.
A single WLFI token is price 8 cents, down from 31 cents since September.
Sun based a separate multi-billion greenback crypto venture known as Tron. He stated he backed World Liberty due to Trump and his assist for cryptocurrencies. He additionally purchased $100 million of Trump’s meme cash in July 2025.
