The vacation season is right here, and in Rochester, meaning the lighting of the Liberty Pole.
Town has scheduled the annual ceremony for 5 p.m. Saturday at East Essential and Franklin streets. Santa will probably be joined by Mayor Malik Evans, Metropolis Council members, and the Prime Time Brass band.
The ceremony will probably be adopted by a parade to Roc Vacation Village at Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Park. The seventh annual iteration of the village opens Friday.
For the parade, the next streets will probably be closed beginning at 5 p.m. Saturday and will reopen as soon as the final parade members clear the route:
- Franklin Road from Liberty Pole Solution to East Essential Road
- East Essential Road from Cortland Road to Gibbs Road
- Gibbs Road from East Essential Road to East Avenue
- East Avenue from East Essential Road to Broadway
- Broadway from East Avenue to the site visitors circle
